MY EK4 track toy

managed to get my civic on the scales today.... and my, she's a big old girl

With no driver and less than a 1/4 tank she was 1054Kg. Was hoping it'd be a little bit lighter but I think a non-a/c, non-sunroof SiR comes in at 1090Kg so I can't be too disapointed considering I've probably got about 30 to 40Kg of rollcage in there. Doesn't look especially well balanced (left to right-wise) so I might go and get it corner-weighted in the future after I strip a few more unneccessary parts out.

Nice work! Looks like you've got a quite a bit of roll going on there, could definately benefit from some increased rates and a proper corner weight setup!

Do you do any competition driving at all?

No, all just for fun atm. I've been pondering about prepping it properly and getting into a couple of races for the VTC next year, but that's a long way off decided.
With the roll, tbh I don't even ever turn the damping up very much when I'm on track. So I'm sure if I ran them at full it would corner a lot flatter. It might be a bit of beneift laptime-wise but I've always tended to just set them around halfway and get on with enjoying the track.

My penultimate mod before japfest
Got some Energy Suspension Shifter Stabiliser bushes from Funky Power for just over £13. Piece of p1$$ to fit, probably took just under an hour, only tricky bits were actually sliding the new bushes to place. Will know on Saturday if they improve the car on track (and help me with my inability to find 3rd when downshifting) but the gear shifting felt noticably firmer and more positive on the short drive I took after back from my parents' driveway.

Not the most interest photos but these are the new and old side by side.

Booked in to have the roof wrapped in matte black tomorrow, wish me luck. I done possibly the worst bit of filling ever in preparation for it and when I rang the place up today to confirm everything's good to go he asked me "what colour check pattern was it that you wanted"!? :nerv:

lol get some pics up once its done.

Those shifter bushings are good noticed a real difference when i fitted mine.

as said looked great on track at japfest, and i thought it was me being a fool not finding third when downshifting, i blame my shifter extension as i never had an issue before! haha

Look forward to seeing it on track again soon!

Cheers Neil. try some of those bushes, they really did make a difference for me. I was having so many mis-shifts on track before but was slotting in fine at japfest.
Your car looks awesome btw, just had a brief skim through your build :nice:

Can i ask where you got the roll cage from buddy. Do all OMP bolt in cages miss the dash?
