My slow but sure EK4 build up!

Today's update!

Got my mate's bro to do a bit of welding on the motor today.
I got a new front panel and complete chassis legs to be cut and welded onto the car.

This fella is a CLASS welder, i'll let the pics talk for themselves...

Old parts cut away...

New pieces he cut and welded in...

Close ups...

And all smoothed down...

He also welded up the aerial hole on the pillar...

Done, ready for smoothing down and filler!

A pic of the undersealed parts that he welded before...

New (used!) front panel welded on, its SO much stronger than the original panel...

And then welded up the rear wiper and badge holes...

Stay tuned...

Have to give it to ya. Some amount of work done. Fair play

Cheers fella, from in beside Gweedore, an yea thats a b18 i rebuilt for it. Hopefully will be a rocket!

As for the 5 stud swap, fronts are really easy, had em both done and back on the road in about 2 an a half hours.

Backs were a lot harder. Lots of seized bolts to deal with! Is that smackey's old SiR in your sig pic?

El updato

Hi all, i know its been a while since i had an update, been up to my eyes with college work the last few months and haven't had much time to work on the wagon. But near an end with the college so getting stuck back into this yok!

Basically, i shaved the engine bay yesterday, took a load of pics, before during and after.

Just done a bit of grinding and smoothing down, LOADS more to do to get everything flush, but will update when this happens!

Anyway, I'll let the pics do the talking! Enjoy...:nice:

And here’s a few pics of my interior, I fitterd my VISION seat rail, 50mm lower than the EK( rail, feels WAY better! And my LUKE harness I got off callum, you can also see my oil temp and pressure gauges in the bezel pod.

Comms and crits welcome…

Must be into 3 digits now for the hours spent on it!!

Just noticed the Recaro is fading, same as mine (damn red!!)

Great work dude.

Cheers for the kind comments lads. Yea ron its time consuming, i've been sanding filler since baout 6 this evening, just in the door now!

So basically just welding the holes up and now filling them up with filler now. Using fibreglass first in the deeper areas, then capping off with 2 pack fillers.

Some pics for you all of this evening's marathon 7 hour sanding session:

Comments and criticism welcome...
