onto engine number 3..........

if you can afford it, a k20 is much faster than even a fully built B18!

Over torqueing bolts is not the way forward......
Now the bolts are probably weaker. You should have torqued them up to spec and used the locktite.
Glad theres no damage though.

yeah wasn't keen on going silly with the torque, the 6 bolts are done to 40Nm which isn't too daft!

Tempted by the seats.... hmmmm

Whats your wheel/tyre spec, sit perfect!

Do it! They're awesome seats :)

15x7 et35 wheels with 195/50 r888 toyos, 10mm spacers up front too

Thanks for info.

I'm down in Yorkshire, so bit of a trek to collect seats, I've a few things for sale on ebay, if they go, I may well be in touch.

Wonder if the B transmissions are stronger over K transmissions.

i've built a few B series boxes and this K series box, they are an almost identical design inside bar the shift assembly (rod vs. cable)

the weak point on K's is the shifter cables which use weak rubber bushes, this has been solved with the hybrid racing cables which use 3 solid ends and 1 spherical end

only time will tell, but for a N/A setup i can't see there being an issue with strength

Great post Steven, interesting to see the differences in the boxes as the ep3/dc5 boxes have a notoriously bad reputation, whereas the b-series boxes have a half decent reputation.

I was measuring my heater matrix pipes today and was wondering how you went about mating the thicker k20 end to the thinner ek9 end?

Forgot to add, k20 has a triple cone 1st gear synchro whereas the B series has a double cone, hence why there is no issue whatsoever selecting 1st in a K

I don't run heaters, kept a u-bend hosr off the b series and used that to loop the lines! Hybrid racing do a kit i believe to mate up to the matrix ports on the firewall

thanks :)

reason my seats are for sale - picked up an as new set of profi-SPA today, full carbon kevlar shells with more support than the SPG's

Good to read. Buddy of mine is breaking synchros all the time in his K setup.
Too much power I think. Im waiting to see that the solution is before I move any closer to a K. Just in "K"ase.
