I've got a small problem my local shell garage has been taken over by Gulf, the nearest one is some 45 minutes drive from me. As I've only ever put vpower in the 9 where can I get the same Ron fuel from? I've got a tesco and a Morrison 15 minute drive from me.

Whats the ron of BP Ultimate ? , or is that shite?

Ive never tryed it.

Apparently thats changing in the next month or so as well! to Gulf.

BP ultimate is 97, ill use that if there is not a shell or Tesco anywhere near me! :nice:

its 97, best ron that we've got in northern ireland! ( its dearer than 100 ron in scotland too!) i would love to have 99 and 100 ron fuel over here!

Not that it makes a noticeable difference to your cars performance anyway....

i mean really???..... its proven that engines make more power with higher RON..
IN FACT.... if you go into a bentley dealership the info for the car's actually states the different power ratings for different fuels grades..(noticed this the other day while i eyed up a continental GT speed)
i once HAD to fill up with 95 RON and my car is always run on 99 or 100 RON.
The exhasut on over run was popping and banging and it was evident at higher pulling speeds that the engine didn't quite have the response ..

placebo effect... not at all.... let your car get down to the petrol light and stick £15 of 95 RON in there then let it go down again and stick £15 of 100RON and you will 100% feel a difffernce..

i now feel very lucky i have the choice of so many decent petrol stations, i have the choice of 3 shell garages within 4 miles of each other... sorry to rub it in guys..

Yes, it does make a difference...

to big power turbo cars. I'd be amazed if more than 2bhp of a difference was had in a full tank of V Power over any type of 95 Ron.
Plenty of motoring magazines and TV shows have done tests using rolling roads, different types of car and trying them with different fuels.

Comparing a 1.6 N/A Civic to a Big powered turbo'd Bentley is... laughable.

Although I don't put 95ron in my car as 99 is readily available near me, and while it may not improve performance, power wise, I do believe it can give the engine a good clean out, which is never a bad thing. I probably only do 400 miles a month, MAX. If my car was my daily, i'd be putting 95 in it to save money.

:blabla:

you simply didn't listen.... GO and do it yourself instead of realing off " this tv show and this magazine " do it yourself and i think you'll be happily surprised...

especially adding an octane booster to take the octane rating of Vpower up to 102 RON..
in fact my last EG6 i owned had its Feel's ECU tuned on 101 Ron by Feel's honda twincam...

but as you said it doesn't make a difference..

It's my car at the end of the day if I want to waste my money on Vpower I will! I certainly notice the difference between the two! If your car is mapped on 99 Ron you should run it!

The Japs have higher RON fuel than us anyway so an import car should really be filled up with the best you can get here.

I'm pretty sure I JUST mentioned I have 99ron fuel in my car 9 times out of 10.
