Hi all,

I currently have Toyo T1-R's all round on me ek and the rear 2 are on the way out, i'm thinking about swapping the fronts to the rear and investing in some R888's for the front?
Now i've got 195/45/16 on at the moment but i know that the sidewall on the R888's are much bigger than the t1-r's so this is my dilema as i don't want to alter my ride heigh as it's all set up at the moment and i'm really happy with it.
So what size R888's would be people recommend?

Wheel spec;

Enkei rpf01's 16x7

Thanks
Simon

I would only get r888 if you intend on tracking it, r888 as a road tyre is ridiculous, plus require extra concentration in the wet

195/50/16
205/50/16

R888's on the front and T1R'S on the rear would be madness lol , you will lose the backend alot !

For a 16x7 wheel , a 205 /45 /16 tyre is perfect , less than 5mm of a sidewall height over your 195's

Definitely not a good idea to mix track fronts with road rears. You drive to the grip you feel (the fronts) so you'll just end up going clean past the limits of the rears and having some spectacular, unexpected spins. Also stiff sidewalls on the fronts and spongy soft ones on the rear will make it feel like you've got knackered rear trailing arm bushes as you get a delayed reaction at the back every time you change direction.

If you want good performance tyres but just for the road I'd go for Hankook RS2 or Yoko AD08. Put them on the rears and the T1Rs on the front and once you've burnt through them (the T1Rs) replace them with another pair or RS2/AD08.

R888/A048/V70A etc will just be wasted on the road.

Too bad you all can not get RE11 out there. Or can you yet?

Bridgestone don't deem the UK worthy of sending us any decent tyres! :angry2:

Another vote for not mixing road and track tyres. Lift off oversteer is amusing the first few times but quickly becomes frustrating when you can't balance the car properly on corner entry. Does make it feel a lot grippier on corner exit mind...

It does actually, I have several villages locally with similar names, Alverstone, Mottistone Adgestone, Merstone, Brighstone, Limerstone, Hulverstone...

I wonder what they all have in common...

Right on the tyres! Don't get stoned under a bridge because when you do, it's no good in the UK. :D

Nearest we have to the RE-11 is the Advan AD08 here ... Hankook arent even bringing the RS-3 here either , cnuts

NO RS3??? Denied!!!

Just picked up some AD08's for my ek9 wheels so will have some Part worn RS2's up for grabs :p

I run 195/50/15's R888's on my 15x7 wheels but as said the 205/45/16's would be perfect for yours.

If its a daily though I would just get AD08's as they are great tyres but not as bad in the wet , and will out last R888's easily!
