Vtec6000's EK9 - Update pg6

cheers. Yeah it's probably closer to 95 octane than 97 although with the 5% bioethanol which is added to all petrol at the pumps in this country it should bring the octane rating up a tad. wish we could buy 99/100 octane petrol at the pumps here

ha ha ha :p we can :p

Where does the time go?! Last update 2011 lol.

My EK9 has seen little to no use the last year or two. I sold the Race-tech turbo kit and the stock b16 engine that was fitted to the car so it sat for a long time without any engine.

A few months back I fitted a stock internals b18c4 engine and new turbo kit consisting of Go-Autoworks ramhorn manifold and a Garrett GT3076r turbo. The 38mm wastegate unfortunately isn't big enough for this manifold/turbo combo to maintain the kind of boost level I was planning to run, by 8600rpm boost is creeping up to 15-16psi!

Video of when it was on the dyno been mapped.

Plan for the car now is to strip it down and give it a full respray. I may also be going back NA, haven't quite made my mind up on that yet but if my plan of building another car for track use next year come to fruition the turbo set-up will most likely be going into that.

I'll try keep this thread updated as work progresses, plan is to have it finished by mid 2015 :x:

You'll need one of these to finish it by mid 2014 :D

Very nice, its good to see some plans for the car for the future

400bhp must make the car really shift, would be great as a time attack car

Nice. How long have you been running 400 on a stock c4? Seems alot for a stock engine. 3 inch downpipe?

We mapped another stock c4 6 months ago to 420bhp and 285 ftlb's torque, it's holding together so far! If long term reliability was your goal I would probably cap the power at 350bhp, which to be honest is plenty power for the street! Yes 3" DP to 3" catback.

If it was possible to implement the boost by gear strategy I had planned to run on this (but due to wastegate issue I couldn't) then yes it would be pretty good on track as you could keep the boost/power down in the lower gears to aid traction.

Nice Same thing Romain advised aswell. He did mention he had a stock c4 upto 480bhp with no problems. But yeah I'm running boost by gear it definitely aids traction and feels awesome as the boost builds gradually. My end result was 365bhp with 280ftlb of torque.definitely enough for the road. I mainly run low boost (10psi) on the road which is nice and balanced especially in the corners.

If you can't get the power down it is rather pointless having so much of it! 365bhp would be real nice power for a road going Honda. Stock engine also? I believe you mentioned before having a 44mm WG? This is the mistake I made when ordering my manifold.

Yep stock c4 engine and s9b box with 44mm wastegate yes mate. Did you buy the complete kit off Greg?

Was that 4th gear? That pulls really hard doesn't it! You hear the vtec go then bang it's off lol

Nice some ball off it man haha 400bhp shed do for goin to the shop i suppose :p
