Career

I left School at the end of 6th year after gaining some pretty good standard grades and **** all highers haha!

Laboured for 3 months and was lucky enough to get an apprenticeship in electrical engineering for a big firm, 5 years been doing it now, still enjoy it as im still learning new stuff every day and have a surprising amount of responisiblity for being only a year out my time.

money is pretty phenomenal aswell if you put in the hours but its Horrendous until your qualified, saying that, ive managed to rent a flat and own ok cars since i started it. Rubbish car just now because i just bought my own house but i could be back in another EK9 by May...if i dont spend it on underfloor heating or more Tellys

i was a college dropout due to prob being in the wrong social circle.
ended up working in retail stores etc until last year got a job at DSGI Business as a business advisor.
sat in the same desk speaking to the same people on your left and right got me urging to do something different so at the age of 23 i took the risk of doing an apprenticeship into dental nursing earning only £95 a week from a proper full time wage was hard but only had to survive for a year.
now qualified i can train into any profession in the dental field but currently thinking of opening a dental products business.
now 24 wait and see what god has got planned for me

I pissed around at school getting high like alot did, got kicked out of 6th form re-sitting my 1st year as I didn't abide by my contract on attendance and then dossed about for a few years. Decided to sort my **** out and blagged my way into uni by telling them I actually finished 6th form, got an HND in Motorsport Engineering but decided to pull out after the 2 years and not go on to get the BEng as it was clear the economy was going down the drain. Got a job as a Design Engineer/Draughtsman for a small design house where I still work now two years later, mostly do design work on gas turbines for oil industry. I will soon be starting study again with the OU to gain my BEng and hopefully progress onto a Chartered Engineer in a few years. If I make it into the Automotive/Motorsport industry at some point that would be brilliant, but I'm not pinning all my hopes on that!

Dream job - Chassis or Powertrain engineer for an F1 team. :D

I'm aircraft technician in the RAF! Not many people who can say they enjoy going to work day to day but I do! Every day is different and by no means boring! Money is very good aswell, but the commitment is not everyone cup of tea.

I'm in my 3rd year at Dundee University studying Economics. And don't really enjoy it. I've lost interest in the whole Uni thing...But i've only got a year and a bit left soo i'd be daft to chuck it. And there are very few decent jobs about just now soo i doubt i would have a good job if i wasn't there.
When i finish Uni i don't really know what i'm going to do...literally have no idea :( Some get rich quick job please haha

JDM autos count me in please...lets get our own track and drag strip on the go aswell. We'd be minted...we'll only need a couple of million to get it up and running. :D I've got a ek9 and a couple hundred quid to start off. Who else is in?? hahaha

I got accepted to go into strathclyde uni after leaving school, promptly dingied it and got an apprenticeship in a garage, was lucky to get one being nearly 18 but I dont regret it, everyone said I was mad to miss out uni, half of the same people are now working in call centres and staying on cooncil estates, while ive had the opportunity to start my own business and have a good life, loads of toys etc.

masterplan is to open another garage, either in the east, or in the north of england in the next couple of years.

open a garage in the east!!! (I am not being biased just because I am from there!:blabla:)

Well I left high school at 18 with good standard grades a few highers. Nothing major tho. Was a bum for 6 months with my legendary mate Aarron and we just skated everyday and watched him get stoned while I probably got stoned off the fumes!! lol

Well I eventually got a job for the bank of scotland at the gyle in edinburgh. left after 6 months as it was absoulte bollocks!!!:angry2: 2 weeks after leaving I got into Register of Scotland (civil service) and been here 9 years!! lol I deal with land and property data, very interesting and very easy! flexi time so plenty holz and paid well for what I do so cant complain!

Long term plan is to take over the family business. That being my Grandad's fishmongers "James Dickson & Son". Its been going since 1902 and we supply just about everyone in east lothian and supply tons in midlothian also so its looking good!!

So if anyone in the lothians needs smoked salmon or prawns for christmas you know where to come!lol :secret:

Same as above, spent a few years doin feck all so decided to do somethin with my life. You get to see some pretty cool stuff in this line of work.

Left school and went to college for a year before deciding it was a massive waste of time..Got an electrical apprenticeship with TTE and ended up getting a placement at Corus steelworks at Redcar. Spent my time there when everything was kicking off and was about to close. Didn't end up getting a permanent placement there needless to say...

Now I'm working for Corus (or TATA as it's now called) at Hartlepool 42" pipe mill as a shift electrician. Money's decent as long as you get some overtime in. Good set of lads, good banter and that, messes with your social life a fair bit though.

i have not idea what i want to do as in my career.

Decide the above first then you'll know whether Uni etc is for you, once you've spent years on a uni course it's just a waste of time and money if you want to do something totally unrelated to it.

I spent 2 years doing BSc Evolutionary Biology and Genetics and decided I didn't like it and spent another two years doing BSc Biomedical Science to get my degree. But now I have decided the last thing I want to do is work in the science industry picking apart genomes and chemical structures and am now going to be a teacher which means I could have dossed about doing English Literature as I wanted to and still be just as qualified for the job. So don't get a qualification you don't need.

Finished College this May, got a degree in Psychology and now i am a salvage car salesmen. Bought my first EK9 here last week. The car is completely stock, if anyone has any tips on what i should do to it first i will be glad to here any suggestions.

minimum wage maintenance man :( pay goin up next month tho (ive been promised as its already 7 months late! lol) as the company i work for was bought over and their financial year starts in jan :) and their maintenance are paid a little more than min wage.

i worked for the ministry of justice for 3 years IT WAS SO BAD.... i want 3 years of my life back....

i wanna go to college next year and do something along the lines of motorsport engineering but have no idea what to do about it really.

i have no a levels only gcse's but like kozy said dream job would be F1 team....even if i make the teas i'd be so happy lol.

guess i may have to do a basic car technician course first then try to get into uni.
i am 22 though so may be a bit late but people are telling me its never to late to start.

I left school at 16 as soon as i finished my exams, I walked straight into a job in my local VW garage (This was soley due to going there on work experience and making a good impression) and did a 3 year apprenticeship with them. I finished there having a NVQ L3 with a distinction :D I now work in my dads garage where i am now doing my L4 NVQ also have done my MOT licence aswell as fork truck etc. not bad for someone who isnt 21 yet

Did 4 years at Aberdeen uni and got a BEng in Mechanical engineering

Graduated last year, been working for PSN as an Associate mechanical engineer since, went in originally as a summer placement but they've kept me since!

All office based stuff but i really enjoy it. Later next year once i have 2 years experience be made up to a full Engineer but also be looking into doing extra modules required with RGU so i can start on my chartership

Left school at 16 went to do a car course at college, did that for 3 months then got an apprentiship with Scottish Power on the underground cables. Left there and serviced compressors for a year, then a fitter in a factory for a year and a half. Now work for British Gas as a technical engineer been there for 10years now very good job and pay, got the 9 and bought my own house what else do you need :)

well i came out of school with 2 advanced highers, 7 highers n 7 standard grades and went on did a fast track course and have a honors degree in accountancy but i'm working as a manager and fill in chef from time to time in a restaurant. uni isnt a good option i wish a could have done a apprenticeship! to be honest i'm thinkin of going out to australia maybe next year and just see what happens

Now at 22 i left school as i hit 16 straight into an aprenticeship at my local Nissan dealership with a side sales company for all make second hand car dealer.
I think i have done L4 NVQ, done 4 year course day release at college. So been qualified almost 3 years but now lossing my licence for at least 6-10 years so will be unusable as a technician thus im going to do an aprenticeship in plumbing as my uncle has his own company and is expanding unless I find something intresting with half decent pay that doesnt need a driving licence ?? haha not much hope.
