hey guys
thought i would update my build thread as ive hurt my finger and got nothing to do..
so it starts out by me buying a K swapped EK which i was to break and sell but somehow managed to find itself in my car after lots of persuation from friends haha
worked out some sums, how much i would make breaking the K swapped EK and parting out my B20 setup.
This was the K swap car i bought
Drove it home and started stripping it and the shell was gone within the week.
Mate took my B20 and put it into his CRX, another mate took my S80 box so i sold off alot of stuff quickly.
The donor car ran EKK1 mounts so I sold them off and decided to go EKK2 for the axle angles and sump clearance.
What was meant to be a simple swap ended up taking somewhere along the lines of 3 months because of other commitments but mainly money issues buying what i needed.
Got my ITR rack, subframe, forks and arms from integrastella and deicded to repaint the engine bay.
All in all took me about a week, the prepping, masking and spraying. Although i only spent about 3-4 hours a day.
Here it was in primer
then paint
Lacquered and masking removed.
Decided to underseal a load of the car too which i have no pics of , not one to take alot of pics tbh haha
During the swap, a set of these came up for an awesome price so sold my legend calipers and bought them! always wanted a set
Also always wanted double din setup and some gauges which i never got round to with the B20
I only bought what i needed for the double din swap, so several parcels later and a lot of searching for the actual console with help from my friend jules on what was needed i got the swap done! No boxes behind the dash need to be changed, only a couple of the brackets!
Got a set of Prosport premium gauges and am impressed with them for the money.
Premium gauges come with these small electric senders, unlike the usual big heavy ones so elimiates the need of teeing off with some hoses
Had some sleeving so sleeved all the wiring for the gauges into a single loom
So I ended up pulling by old dash out, doing a bit of painting behind the dash for some tidying up and put in a black dash from the donor car with the double din unit.
And it was complete
Did have an issue with the lighting on the gauges which caused them to flicker when the stereo was on but put in a swtich and fixed this. can be seen under the driver side vent in the pic above.
After getting some money together i finally got my Hasport EKK2 mounts from the states
A couple of hours later and help from friends
Engine was in. Next thing was to tackle the wiring which stalled me for about 2 Weeks as the first gen HR conversion harness was used in the donor car and this is not colour coded. Alot of wires were cut too. But i got there in the end and first time it started, fluctuating idle - culprit was IACV and after a clean it ran sweet.
Next i wanted to get a full exhaust system, started to look around for headers and wanted a Skunk2 but due to the size , after shipping these were almost Hytech money. A HR race header came up for a bargain price so i got that.
After debating what size system i wanted, made an appointment with Alan at solid fabrications, a 3" system was made. Was scared it would be stupid loud with my rear fully stripped but it wasnt that bad tbh.
Alan done an awesome job.
Finally fitted my sunstrip after having it for almost 2 years
Can just about see it here
Saved a bit more, ordered a RBC and Karcepts intake with Karcepts RBC adapter and had it all fitted last week after spraying my rocker too.
thermal TB gaskets
Bisimoto thermal inlet gasket was also fitted
And as it stands now
Due for a tune at TDI north on wednesday morning but not sure i can drive untill i try tomorrow.
