I love the colour, and the job is amazing considering how hard it is to paint around the cage etc, left it over night last night, then after work this morning we loaded it back up again the took it home...

Gota say im over the moon with it, the finish is straight from the gun and i cant wait till its built up and sitting in the que for the first stage, let the build up begin!!!

That cage work is mega  and paint is savage too , really really nice work :nice:

I was a little worried when I scrolled down to the pink primer lol. Did you do the spraying yourself?

Will you be going to TSH? We fixed the bogging down issue on the EK9 (we hope) so we'll be taking it for its first full rally in a while hopefully :)

Hehe, i sent a pic of it in pink to my navigator saying 'its all done' , and all he replied with was ' its not very shiney' lol.

I didnt spray it myself, did everything else and all the prep etc but left the spraying up to someone who knew what they were doing, ive sprayed before, but didnt want to mess it up.

Not doing tsh unfortunatly, which is a shame as its a brilliant event, what was the cause of the missfire in the end??

After the shell was painted on friday, i then went and did a road rally, which im using my more door ek4 for this year, and finished off 'good' friday perfectly with a comfortable win, so thats 3 out of 3 wins for the more door so far this year, cant complain at that :)

Amazing build mate, cage and seam welding is out this world!! Hope your back stays in good nick and good luck with the rest of your build! :)

Where did you take it to be sprayed if you don't mind me asking?

I think it was injection timing which was causing the bogging down, changed it to batch fire from sequential and it seems to have solved it. Don't know have all the 'tuners' managed to miss something like that.

keep up the great work its look very impressive indeed.
damm that paint looks good....

wow this is serious i take it you love your red ey lol. wish i had the time, insurance approval and money to go as full on as you are nice one

Thanks for the comments, im rushing abit as got an event lined up, but its going nicely so far, started stripping the ginger ek4 yesturday afternoon

Hopyfully fuel lines and tank tomorrow, then the front subframe can go on and the suspension built up.

Chuck a heated front screen in there and do away with the heater matrix :) Can't wait to see this out and about, what rally will you be doing first?

I looked at a heated screen as we run one in the 205, but im going to be using the car for road rallys aswell and the thought of driving at night with any sort of misted up screen doesnt fill me with alot of joy, so for the time being the heater is staying, bloody great lump it is tho!!!

!st event if you ignore the road rally im hoping to use it for at the end of may as a kind of 'shake down' as it were, is going to be caerwent at the end of june, did caerwent twice last year and really liked it.

I tryed to send a PM, but as a new boy not quite ready, ie -10 post !!, hope you don`t mind !!

Hi, It has been really intresting to read through your thread, the build quality looks fantastic.
I am in a similar situtation, ie english based clubman rally driver, I have even got the battle scars from caerwent to prove it !! well my old 205 has
I am looking for a well built/good spec ek9 but cannot find one anywhere or very few about.
My best source so far is the Irish web site donedeal, it has loads of EK4`s, my prosped route is to buy a good EK4 from ireland and buy and bolt in a second hand EK9 engine, giving me the 185 + BHP to fight of the 1600 escorts. What are your thoughts on my planned route, have i got it wrong ? will the ek9 lump bolt into the ek4 ? What other web site should i keep an eye on ? how much would the engine + fitting cost
Thanks Robert

Sounds like a good plan to be honest, its near enough what im doing, but i wanted to build it myself as dont have the funds to buy a built car, plus this way i know every last nut and bolt on the car, and i know its been put together how i am happy with.
The ek9 engine will bolt straight in, and they have been selling on here for around a grand for a good one, which isnt too bad if you can sell the healthy b16a on, and fitting costs is the time it takes you to swap them, reakon i could do the swap on my driveway in about 4 hours, so easy to work on!!

thats guna be a nice car lol cnt wait to see the next stage
