My B20 Engine has now done 650 miles and been absolutely faultless.
Only problems I have had are idle related due to the Skunk2 Throttle body. After lots of research I've realised the throttle body has a design fault that causes idling issues. Workaround has been put in place by myself today and all seems better now, fingers crossed.
I was told I can now rev a little more freely after my 1st oil and filter change.
Realised I have had no VTec in the runnin' period which amazes me as the car pulls like a mofo
Just another 500miles to go then a full tune and Vtec Enabled
Yes, Stock rods. Rev limit set at 8200 but I've only just started to rev over 6000rpm as the engine is still running in. Driving it under strict instructions from Daz @ Dnr as he obviously know more about a built B20 than most.
Really trusting whatever Daz @ DNR recommended. I made it pretty clear that I would pay extra for any parts he thought critical for a reliable build and he never recommended forged rods. Fingers crossed I'll get no problems.
I think there's a good 6 month warranty on the engine and believe me, if it's going to fail I'm going to make sure it does within that period.
Really not too concerned though, he's built over 200 B20's and I'm only aware of one that had issues which was sorted under warranty.
Me neither .....but as the ecu is programmable he'll just map the car and optimize it for the fuel you most commonly use. If I could get 99 ron easily enough i'd probably use it all the time.
How much power you'd make using this over 97 I don't really know if you'd notice the difference ??
Results hopeful in the next 2 weeks. Daz was saying he tuned a car last week with almost identical setup as mine that made 210bhp. He said mine had slightly more compression, better intake and exhaust so should be good for that too.
I'd honestly be happy with 200bhp in a car this light as the torque boost alone going B20 is massive and the real difference between this and the B16B to me.
