Zens B20 Ek9 Type-Rx

:wow: nice registration plate.. a video once its been broken in would be lovely :)
glad to hear you are happy with it mate

Small update:

My B20 Engine has now done 650 miles and been absolutely faultless.

Only problems I have had are idle related due to the Skunk2 Throttle body. After lots of research I've realised the throttle body has a design fault that causes idling issues. Workaround has been put in place by myself today and all seems better now, fingers crossed.

I was told I can now rev a little more freely after my 1st oil and filter change.

Realised I have had no VTec in the runnin' period which amazes me as the car pulls like a mofo :nice:

Just another 500miles to go then a full tune and Vtec Enabled :drive:

Car looked amazing when I saw it the other week :nice:

Cheers BL!TZ.

Nice to see another Ek9 parked up next to mine as they are so-so rare.
Yours was super-clean too BTW :nice:

Hope the parts were you had off me were all good mate.

Nice one,

Zen

Yeah all fitted now (air box was done yesterday and the exhaust the week before)

My mates pretty happy to say the least!

If you're ever up this way again we'll have to meet up :nice:

Stock rods? Whats your rev limit set to?

Yes, Stock rods. Rev limit set at 8200 but I've only just started to rev over 6000rpm as the engine is still running in. Driving it under strict instructions from Daz @ Dnr as he obviously know more about a built B20 than most.

Any vids ect?

Not yet. As soon as Vtec is enabled and I've had the car properly mapped and dyno'd I'll see what I can do.

Looks great! I'd have a think about forged rods tho...

I have the same-ish setup and forged rods are pretty critical.

Wicked car dude! were abouts in the west mids are you? im only in walsall never seen this around, also got a B20 EK but sadly selling :(

Really trusting whatever Daz @ DNR recommended. I made it pretty clear that I would pay extra for any parts he thought critical for a reliable build and he never recommended forged rods. Fingers crossed I'll get no problems.

I think there's a good 6 month warranty on the engine and believe me, if it's going to fail I'm going to make sure it does within that period. :naughty:

Really not too concerned though, he's built over 200 B20's and I'm only aware of one that had issues which was sorted under warranty.

Any updates?

Completed nearly 1000miles on the new engine. Been pushing the revs up to 7-8k more regularly now without problems.

Clutch is slipping here and there so looking to get down to DNR as soon as to get my Stage2 clutch fitted, bedded in and then get the car fully tuned.

I need Vtec now !!:D

Any updates on this, looking foward to dyno results and how happy you are with the end results.

Seems to be alot of good words surrounding Daz@ dnr. B20 seems to be a good option for nice gains, i may have to do a quote with them in the new year.

i never asked him about fuel, same as std ek9 then?

Me neither .....but as the ecu is programmable he'll just map the car and optimize it for the fuel you most commonly use. If I could get 99 ron easily enough i'd probably use it all the time.

How much power you'd make using this over 97 I don't really know if you'd notice the difference ??

Results hopeful in the next 2 weeks. Daz was saying he tuned a car last week with almost identical setup as mine that made 210bhp. He said mine had slightly more compression, better intake and exhaust so should be good for that too.

I'd honestly be happy with 200bhp in a car this light as the torque boost alone going B20 is massive and the real difference between this and the B16B to me.

sounds great Zen, can't wait to see how it goes once its all properly mapped and bedded in.

B20 seems to be a very popular thing now.. and i can see why TBH..
