Right, I bought this exhaust off a member on here and have a few questions. The B-pipe is in awful condition and will not be going on my car, the seller has been contacted (awaiting reply) as it was advertised as "very good condition", yet there are a number of holes on the welds.

My main question is, it's a Feel's cat-back system which to my knowledge was only ever manufactured in stainless steel or titanium. I was told this was the stainless system, but upon inspection I am unsure.....

Pics of how the system looks usually (elsewhere)

I tried both marking it and going over it with wire wool, but it seems more like a very silky smooth coating that produces a lot of dust, rather than simply dirt, it is also uniformly a dull grey...underneath is the bare metal, which leads me to think it could be a heat coating, ceramic coating perhaps?

How am I supposed to tell whether this is a heat coating, uniform dirt/dust build up, or something else? And how do I tell whether the system is stainless or mild steel?!

Pictures of the poor condition....... you can clearly see bad oxidisation and holes....

Sorry to hear that man:angry:. Hope you get it all sorted.

Cheers guys, me too! Was so gutted when it arrived and I opened it up, been wanting this system for ages, and now there's one listed elsewhere for cheaper and in awesome condition......:angry2:

Looks like Mild steel to me.

Try the Magnet test.

Mild steel will stick to the magnet stainless won't unless poor qualty and it may stick slightly but not in the way it would normally. IF that makes sense.

Doesn't look good though.

If you need anything from me drop me a PM.

That's shocking how that can be described as "very good condition"

Name and shame the seller, stop anyone else dealing with him

Didn't think of that, just grabbed a fridge magnet.....sticks to the B-pipe, but not the muffler.....guess it's mild steel then! :angry2:

Waiting to hear back from the seller, only contacted him tonight, I'll be sure to fire over a pm if I need anything, thanks!

I hope the reputation thread has been updated?

Not yet, waiting to hear back from seller before I post any names. Like I said, only received the exhaust today after waiting a few weeks, opened it this evening to find this, don't think he has logged in today!

I hate it when user get done over. Hope you get it sorted with minimal agro Josh.

As said if you need anything drop me a PM and i'll do what i can.

Bummer! :(

Did the seller advertise with a photo of the actual item??

Yes, one of the back box still fitted to the car, but I have since found out it was a photo of before he had taken ownership of the car, when it belonged to another member on here. A further 2 photographs were taken from underneath, but were too blurry to make anything out in detail.

Those other pictures from japperformance parts? Thought I saw the same Feels system on there in much better condition for less money just recently?

£500 for holes is not good.

Indeed they are Haitch, 2 from japperformanceparts, 2 from Honda-tech.

£500 for holes is definitely not good. I've bought 3 2nd hand systems in the past, all for around £500 and under, and none even came close to looking like this! :nono:

Is that not a standard exhaust with a shiny backbox?

No, standard oem cat is still attached, bolts appear to have welded themselves on, couldn't get it off!

B-pipe is not standard though no.

:wow: jeez thats a bad condition exhaust. Am i right in pointing out thats an EG6 that it came off? Looks it from the pics.

From the pics of a good condition newish one the wellds look milds steel mig welded to me, or just very untidy rough tig welded. From the looks of the system you bought it sound about right. Personaly i would be looking to buy a different make of system if they look like that newish.

If your really set on the sound or wanting feels then i would just get the crome back box and get a custom stainless system to suit. Pointless a system bein stainless if the welds/joints are not.

But as for that system you have bought i would defo be getting a refund or the majority of the money back.
