NeilVtec EK9 Build up

nice build mate, in the first page where did you get you EASSA LCA's from?

Well…Here it is…. After wanting to do this for ages I finally had the money and storage to do a shell swap, picked up a super clean EK9 shell off Jame Rowe without a spec of rust on it, After driving down to kent and towing it back to studley, We got to work.

(luckily for me) Si had been made redundant  but very kindly offered to come and work on the car all week while I was at work, then id go over and work on it all evening with him. Then over the weekend some other good friends came and helped aswell, then si returned on the Monday and Tuesday to come help me finish it off! Picked up the final parts (bumper, skirts, Grille, spoiler) of “Darkside” on Saturday and it was Finished :D

So… Here are the progress pics!

The Shell Arrives at the still very damp unit

As we got down to the looms there was a massive issue, Basically the interior loom was OBD1, my engine loom was OBD2B, so had to buy an OBD2a Engine loom, Conversion Harness & New ECU, While picking up the new OBD2a Loom from Hond-R (thanks Maz you legendo) I got side tracked and bought some other goodies!

B16B Throttle Body & Injectors, AEM Fuel Rail, FPR & FPG, Skunk2 Intake Mani and a Hondata Thermal Gasket & DC2 Flywheel :D

While the engine was out we fitted a new clutch & all the new bits as my clutch was very nearly dead anyway!

After taking the ek9 out down the private road where the unit was, we had a bad discovery….. No Vtec…. 

Si managed to bridge the wires for the vtec oil pressure switch, and we were go!!! After the first trip with vtec (only down the little road)

All Good….

Re-bled the brakes as they were a bit spongey, as we were getting so close to completion we were really feeling the love

Some other bits along the way like Spoon B-pipe needed welding, Decat needed welding, amongst a few other things photobucket has chosen to just leave out because it’s a dick…… I will re-make this build using Flickr and it will be a lot less dis-jointed & Include all the pics I intended it too instead of just what photobucket decided to show.

The Important Bits…..

Mostly I would like to thank Si…. “Si Vti” to all you lot who don’t know him, For putting in so many hours on this build for nothing other than Maccies, Dominos, Parts & Love! Really wouldn’t of been completed in this timescale to such a good standard without his help & Technical knowledge!!! Absolute Legend…….

Also a massive thanks to Ad (WELZ) James (ek_civic_brum), my mate Spike for the engine crane & help, Quint & matthews (matthewsdeth) who came along to help aswell over the weekend, Also Maz from Hond-R…. Your really sorted us out when we were in the **** & Also persuaded me to spend load of money….. :D

More updates dew this week….. But only little ones in comparison!

Shows what can be achieved in 10 Days :)

Out your mind!!!

Great idea, The car feel much different?

Ek9 headlights and your sorted! any engine plans?

phew, that was a hard week!

looks spot on. very jealous that your shell's lighter than mine.

top work man, i had though about doing this too, but just couldn't find the shell for the job! looks sweet!

Cheers guys! and thanks again si!

Really impressed so far, the extra engine mods mixed with the 100+KG's shed from it make it feel alot more "nimble" through the bends ive managed to take it to so far, and feels considerably quicker which is allways nice! cant wait to get it on track :D

Cheers dude, Took for a nice drive over the weekend, really impressed me, still gota try the old coilovers even tho i feel i wont be keeping them lol (just to be sure!)
Fitted snap-off boss the other day aswell just for extra security! Will get some pics sometime!
