What did learn about your Civic recently

I found out my civic has me wrapped around it's finger :p

i found that i need to replace my engine mounts and also engine sound much better with a decent air filter

found out that the ek9s have steering rack adjustment and needs to be done every 30 - 40k miles. 40mm locking nut!!!! in a tight spot and guess how much the tool is from honda?........£98 an they need it ordering in from japan or something?!! also honda in Grimsby did not know about such a tool and i had to give them the part number!!!!

think ill just make a custom tool to do the job.

ive posted the diagram so you can do it yourselves with the right torque settings etc

makes a great difference apparently more precise and tight.

undo locking nut, screw out the adjustment bolt fully out then screw in till it stops then untwist a quarter of a turn and tighten up the locking nut to specified nm.

-you should never run aluminium wheel nuts on a track car
-gearbox rebuilds are not cheap
-expensive cars don't like to pull over and let civics past on track

i recently found out that the rear calipers on the civics can seize numerous times even after renewing them :( i have been through 3 on the one side in a year and a half :(

do you bleed your brakes regularly?

renew them yourself?

how when you fix one thing, something else always messes up :/
Amen

That and you can't work on a car without some sort of blood injury, I still haven't healed from gashing my hand on my old skyline's dashboard, then the other night I managed to shove a screwdriver into the end of one of my fingers trying to dismantle something :( then I have various other cuts and grazes from cars, I wouldn't mind but I don't actually do much in the way of mechanical stuff mainly cosmetic.

Did learn that at some point the front bumper and part of the front wing on my EK9 has been resprayed :(

I had forgotten about this thread :)
keep them coming guys :nice: :nice:

I found out after about 7 months after disconnecting my 6x9's because my amp's safety feature kept cutting them out, it was because the copper sound cable hadn't gone all the way into the slot, so the circuit could never complete :p

Also that I always cut my hands whenever I decide to do something to the car, I even did it cleaning it the other day :S
