Hi, just a question of curiousity to be honest.

Im looking at getting an EK9 at the minute to drop a K20 in, just wondered what they go for once completed roughly as ive never seen one up for sale before??

Ive seen a K20'd teg go for 7.5k just wondered if it'd be about the same for an ek9?

thanks

I'd say slightly more; EK9's are worth a bit more than DC2's.

depends where your from

this is an international forum

everyone uses different currencys and a k20 ek9 would be worth different amounts in different climates

Considering the car plus engine etc. would be around 10,000 to do it yourself with the better parts, I'd say around the 7-8,000 mark.

Do you know of one for sale?

Depends on spec. A good kswap will cost circa 6-7k

i would love to k20 mine but i dont have a clue what i would need etc

haha good vid, thats faster than i'm aiming for though...

Ill be going for 250-260bhp ATF :) its only going to be used for mild track work, i used to spend a fortune on track racing in my glanza but i've calmed it down as i was spending every penny i had :p

Mainly going to be a fun daily drive with the odd track day here and there :)

join K20A.org .:. The K Series Source . Honda / Acura K20a k24a Engine Forum matey its a big help...

Its not a cheap conversion though you need custom engine mounts, driveshafts etc... need a hondata due to the immobilsor, need a new exhaust making as it wont mate up etc...

Theres alot of custom parts you need... As long as you can do the work yourself though its not too bad for the outcome imo.

Ok well considering a rough avarage price for an ek9 is £5500, then a k20 sway is about £5000-6000

so

£5500
+
£6000

= £11'000.

:blabla::blabla::blabla:

If you're going to do the conversion to your own EK9 I think you'd be better off not thinking about resale value anyway, you've got to be prepared to drive it until you die or be prepared to part it out when you get bored of it. Selling it as whole would be pointless.

you have to remember you will get a return from the original setup though... I plan on buying a partly tuned EK9... i will have the B16 conversion to sell... probably along with and exhaust, headers and filter...

You will probably get around almost 2k back from parts sold.. so the 6k then becomes 4k...

oh and championship white i will be keeping this for 2 years i reckon, as ill be immigrating to canada in summer 2012... doubt id be taking her with me.

hahaha this place is funny!

A K20 EK9 is only worth as much as someone will pay.

It may be worth £10000 from one place or £12000 from another, depends entirely on who has done the work/ what parts they have used etc etc.

7k for a K20 swap? It can be done much cheaper. Had a inquiry from Hybrid, parts will cost about 4500 pounds. K20 can be found for great prices if you have some patience. Hondata can be discared in favor of an Emerald ECU, saves you 300 pounds. Or a chip to disable the immobiliser from the original ECU, which only costs 100 or so. Saves you 800.

Other parts can be saved on, you don't need s/s braided fuel lines etc. So 7k isn't too hard to reach with the K20 swap, but it can be done much cheaper without really taking any risks.

£4500(GBP)? Does that include engine(JDM K20a)?

How much do they charge to install the engine? Labour. Shouldn't be too much work to fit. I just haven't got the patience/time.

£3000 at least for a K20a, £3500 for all swap parts, £2000 labour. This is a quote I got from a well respected company that has done alot of k-swaps before.

I might get this done if I still love my EK9 at the end of my insurance year as I do now, just a pity I bought the most expensive standard EK9 I could find at the time. If my car had been £5k it wouldn't seem so much money but my car cost me closer to £8k so even with all the parts not needed sold and doing the work myself it would cost around £13k. :nono:

Like JT says you can make it cheaper without sacrificing performance in some areas, Emerald is very user friendly and simple to use too.

K20's can be found A LOT cheaper, 3-3,5k is quite some money for a K20! 2000 labour is insane. Better do it yourself; with Hybrid's bolt-in shifter box you don't need to weld anything anymore.

Wow, thats alot of money. Not sure about the BHP per buck. Would need a test drive or a passenger ride before i commit to doing something like that at that price.

Is there a breakdown of parts + prices? I'd like to see in depth where my money would be going.

At £2000 Labour i think i would sit it in my drive and me and my mates would do it. I would have the patience to save that much £££. Thats a ridiculous price for something that bolts straight up(with necessary parts).
