dont even consider nankang or any budget tyre for a car like the ek9/dc2 unless its just for pure cruising on the street! they car needs performance tyres to get the best out of it!

I have (oem 98spec size) 215/45/16 reo40 potenza tyres on my dc2 they are excellent, only downside if your concerned about funds is that they come in at about £450 for 4

but then for the cars that we drive why would anyone want to skimp on one of the most important parts :)

Some believe the EK9 handles better with 16" rims. If thats the case, then why were they not fitted from factory?

Do we know this for sure?

Who really believes the EK9 really does handle better with 16" rims?

I'm just curious.

TBH you probably wont notice any difference in the real world, maybe on track when the car is constantly on the boil and the tyres are at their optimum temps etc :)

i had 16" volk te37's on the black rx in my avatar and would just say that due to having the lower profile tyres the ride was a lot bumpier, but as mentioned before they look better than 15's and have virtually the same rolling radius as 15's.
would also add that these te 37's are still lighter in 16" than an oem ek9 15" wheel.

i thought 16's would be better for track use as if they had smaller profile tyres you wouldn't get as much tyre roll under hard cornering

i thought 16's would be better for track use as if they had smaller profile tyres you wouldn't get as much tyre roll under hard cornering

that is generally true...but most track tires have stiffer sidewalls and even if they are sized 205/50/15 or 195/55/15 they will ride like 40 series tires because of their reinforced sidewalls.

16" but get your tire size 205/40/16

I'd go for 225/40/16 in the fronts and 205/45/16s in the rear.

I run 205/45/16's. Went from OEM wheels to 16s and personally felt there was a definate improvement in handling... however the 16s did have brand new tyres...

16s feel perfect on my 9 - i prefer the feel of the car compared to the OEM 15s. Agree with Dunsy tho - personal preference more important than technical difference. For me - no rubbing on full lock and no noticeable compromise in acc.
